AFRY study finds achieving net zero power in Great Britain by 2030 would be extremely challenging, but possible
As one of its 6 missions for government, the new UK government has pledged to make Great Britain a “clean energy superpower”. This includes a target to achieve clean power by 2030, five years sooner than the previous 2035 target.
Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) commissioned AFRY Management Consulting to consider what would be needed to achieve net-zero power in GB by 2030, with a focus on rates of technology deployment, planning consents, award of Government support contracts and grid connections.
The study found that while extremely challenging, with fast, co-ordinated and concerted effort by policymakers and industry, it could be achievable.
AFRY’s report can be found here.
Following the publication of the report, AFRY and OEUK present the key findings in this hybrid event. The event can be attended in person at the Offshore Energies UK office or online via Teams.
