Capturing value: Using CCUS to unlock value in biogenic CO2

When

02-April-2025 14:00 CEST

Users of forest products have worked hard over many decades to make the most of their raw material. Alongside core products in the pulp, paper and wood products industries, waste streams are widely valorised through sales to other industries and onsite usage. One key element is the use of residual fibre as a source of renewable energy, often combusted onsite to provide heat and power for the core process or for export.

So, what is missing?

The most forward-thinking companies are now looking to monetise the value of the ultimate waste product – the biogenically derived CO2 itself. By capturing CO2 from the flue gas and either storing it to permanently remove it from the atmosphere or utilising it as part of the feedstock for higher value products.

In this webinar, we will consider how emerging carbon capture utilisation and storage (CCUS) technologies and business models are changing the game for forest products industries. This session is tailored specifically for professionals in the pulp and paper industry and other sectors with significant biogenic CO2 emissions, offering a deep dive into the technologies and economic drivers behind CO2 capture investments.
