Per Åström, battery expert at AFRY

Battery technology

How diversification in chemistries and formats impact performance, manufacturing and battery integration for the EV sector.

Development in cell chemistry, types and new battery technologies is ever-rapid. In this talk, we will dive into the current standings, trends, and impact of diversification in battery technologies, applications, manufacturing and cell format. We will also touch on the interplay between chemistry and how the integration into the module, pack and vehicle is impacted.

Per Åström has over 25 years of experience in various roles within the industrial sector, developing extensive experience especially in the battery sector. He has been involved in battery gigafactories projects in Europe, as well as with start-up companies, and has coordinated several projects and due diligence in the industry.

Vehicle electrification

The impact of new technology and geopolitics on electric vehicle development

As the automotive industry undergoes a transformative shift, we explore the critical role of new technologies in shaping the future of vehicle development. Key topics include the impact of electrification, localised strategies for boosting EV adoption, the impact of AI and software-defined vehicles on efficiency and sustainability, the role of connectivity and cloud solutions in improving performance and safety, and the competitive EV market, with a focus on China's dominance and strategies for Western automakers to stay competitive.

Charging infrastructure

Efficient and sustainable charging of electric vehicles

Establishing a reliable and robust ecosystem of charging infrastructure, power grids, and renewable energy sources is essential for decarbonising the transport sector. At certain locations and times, high charging power—up to several megawatts—is critical. In other cases, leveraging surplus wind and solar energy as it is produced can make transportation systems more efficient in both emissions and cost.

Steffen Schaefer is a digital expert with a degree in computer science. He has worked on strategies and solutions for automotive companies, utilities, charge point operators, investors, and regulators.
Yasmine Assef has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry, and supports clients in energy transition, with a focus on decarbonised transport, e-mobility and energy flexibility.
