Potential for Increased Capacity and Balancing from Swedish Hydropower
When

How can Sweden's existing hydropower be unlocked to help meet the country's electricity needs?
AFRY has conducted a study on behalf of Engineers of Sweden. The study focuses on the potential to increase capacity and balancing from existing Swedish hydropower plants to meet Sweden’s projected large demand increase for electricity.
Hydropower is today a key component in the Swedish energy mix and is expected to remain so in the future energy system due to its balancing capabilities, as intermittent electricity production is expected to increase.
The webinar covers:
- The identified measures to increase capacity, capacity potential from these measures in total and over time, and the cost to increase capacity.
- The potential to increase wind power capacity as a result of the balancing contribution from increased hydropower capacity and the main identified challenges to realise the potential.
