Global Citizen story Berlin to Stockholm
As part of AFRY Management Consulting's Global Citizen programme, Lars Preuschoff relocated from Berlin, Germany to Stockholm, Sweden. This programme allowed him to broaden his expertise, network with great colleagues, and enrich his everyday work.

Where did you transfer to?
In May 2023, I proudly became an AFRY MCD Global Citizen, making the exciting move from Berlin, Germany to Stockholm, Sweden. Armed with valuable experience gained from numerous projects involving electricity grid operators and e-mobility players, my primary objective was to foster collaboration and synergy between teams from both countries, specifically regarding these critical topics.
What did you work on during your time in your new office location?
During my time in Sweden, I had the opportunity to provide support to the Swedish team across various projects, business development, and sales activities. For instance, within the domain of network expertise, I was able to contribute my previous experience in process-focused projects, enhancing our already robust technical offerings. In the realm of future cities and mobility, I helped leverage our expertise in Germany for charging site assessments, collaborating with a cross-border team to drive a project in Sweden.
What challenges did you overcome?
Of course, I also had to face minor challenges in the early stages of the transfer. For example, managing my registration during a busy project schedule or arriving just before the country-wide summer vacation, which initially left me with quite lonely lunch breaks in an almost fully abandoned office. However, the team was extremely inclusive with weekly team activities, such as playing the Swedish racket sport padel, lunch runs, fika quizzes, or after-work drinks making it a very smooth transfer eventually.
Why would you recommend doing an office transfer?
The programme has significantly contributed to expanding my expertise as a consultant, fostering valuable connections within our exceptional teams, and gaining a deep understanding of our vast reservoir of project experience. The programme is more than just a change of workplace; it encompasses the opportunity to meet remarkable individuals and enhance the quality of our daily work.
