Ørland Main Air Station, Norway

AFRY contributed its airport development expertise to the planning and construction of Ørland Main Air Station for the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency. AFRY’s assignment covered squadron buildings, maintenance facilities, runway extension, main infrastructure, hangars, a fire training area, an energy centre, housing, quarters, barracks, sports facilities, comprehensive security for the fighter aircraft base and the search and rescue helicopter base.

As lead design consultant, AFRY was responsible for the design of this security-classified assignment for Fortifikationsverket. The main building spans approximately 20,000 square metres in a single volume and includes training halls, an equipment maintenance hall, specialist rooms for theory and simulator training, classrooms, an assembly hall, offices, changing rooms and technical rooms.

Making critical infrastructure sustainable and resilient for centuries to come

The Øresund Bridge is a vital link between Sweden and Denmark, carrying more than 100,000 travelers daily. Owned and operated by Øresundsbro Konsortiet, the bridge was completed in 2000 with a planned service life of 100 years. Today, the ambition is even greater: to extend its lifespan by another century and secure resilient and sustainable mobility for generations to come.

For many years, AFRY has been a leading supplier to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) within military facilities. The deliveries consist of all types of facilities around Sweden: air force bases, marine bases, garrisons and mountain facilities.
