AFRY + Gapminder: Sustainable cities and communities
What share of the world's population live in mega cities? 8%, 28% or 48%?
When we recently polled the general public, 77% of people got this wrong. Even though half of the world's population live in cities, it's only a fraction that live in those mega cities with more than 10 million people.
I'm Matt Brown, Vice President of AFRY Management Consulting. I help companies in the energy sector transition, as they shift from a largely fossil based world to a renewable clean energy world.
Watch the short video to hear more from me and Anna Rosling Rönnlund of Gapminder. We discuss the public misperceptions and the implications on building cities in the future.

Take the UN Goals Test!
Dispelling myths that exist in this world
But why, you might ask, is AFRY interested in the views of the general public? Well, we decided to collaborate with Gapminder to try to tackle these misconceptions. Because each one of us could, if you like, become a 'factivist', trying to dispel myths that exist in this world. There is so much misinformation coming towards us in all different forms. If we can address misconceptions and ensure people have a clearer understanding of the world around us, we can focus on the right things.
In our partnership with Gapminder, we offer knowledge from our areas of expertise, and together we will address the sustainable development goals set by the UN. As part of this collaboration, a new knowledge test, the UN Sustainable Development Goals Test has been developed. The purpose of the test is to increase general knowledge when it comes to social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
When you know better, you do better.
