Alexander Koukoulas joins AFRY Management Consulting
AFRY Management Consulting is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander Koukoulas, Ph.D., as a Director in its bioindustry business area.
Koukoulas brings a wealth of experience to his role having held several senior-level leadership positions at global pulp and paper and nonwovens companies. He has also served for many years as an independent consultant to the biomaterials and biofuels industries.
We are excited to have Dr. Koukoulas join our AFRY team as one of our directors. His deep and diverse experience, knowledge of the inner workings of the industry and commitment to sustainability is well aligned with our goals to provide our customers with the highest level of expertise, due diligence and market research, and counsel in pulp & paper and renewable biomass-based investment options and strategies.

One of Koukoulas’ primary goals will be to provide advisory services to the pulp and paper industry and the bioeconomy sector in North America, helping companies to succeed in an ever-increasingly competitive landscape.
Koukoulas received his Bachelor of Science and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from McGill University. He is widely published, holds eight U.S. patents and has given numerous presentations. Koukoulas has been an advisor to the U.S. Departments of Energy and Agriculture, the National Science and Engineering Council of Canada and the European Union’s Energy Commission. He is an active member of several professional societies including the American Chemical Society, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, INDA, Sigma Xi and TAPPI.
