Meet Danis Talipov, Process Engineer from Russia
From studies in Russia to the green transition in Sweden
Danis Talipov grew up in Salavat, in the Republic of Bashkortostan in Russia. For several years, he balanced his work and studies in the oil industry with studies in chemical engineering. This eventually paved the way for a journey to study environmental science in Sweden. Today, he utilizes his expertise as a process engineer at AFRY.
In his role at AFRY as a processing engineer, Danis brings knowledge from Salavat Industrial College in Russia with a five-year specialized secondary education program in oil and gas processing. Danis has worked as a Senior Process Operator at a gas refinery and expanded his expertise in the world of chemistry with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering within natural energy sources and carbon materials. The Global Professionals scholarship from the Swedish Institute paved the way for studying abroad in Sweden and obtaining a master's degree in environmental science at Stockholm University.

Attentive managers and helpful colleagues
As a freshly graduated process engineer, Danis embarked on a journey to Norrland and Skellefteå and a job at Northvolt. But he soon missed his friends and Stockholm. He was advised by a previous coursemate to consider applying for a process engineer position at AFRY. After submitting his application, he successfully secured the role and was introduced to the AFRY network.
"I appreciate the many possibilities within this role to choose assignments in different projects and areas. My experience is that both managers and colleagues are attentive to your needs and respect your choices - this is what I truly appreciate. I also adore the people - they're always there to assist during tough times and are willing to listen. But when it comes to how we engineers socialize - that's a different story! Something I find fun and interesting to observe."
Engaging and challenging projects
Danis values the projects as opportunities to venture into new territories, embracing compelling assignments in diverse industries like the battery sector and working with clients in the paper and pulp industry. One of his current assignments with his team is a pilot study followed by an in-depth study on air purification technology for lithium-ion battery manufacturing.
"For me, it was an incredible experience to get involved in such a project from the very beginning. It's inspiring to contribute at a stage with many question marks, and you must make the most important choice for your client.”

Enjoying life and multitasking
Danis is an individual who embraces life wholeheartedly, finds joy in a myriad of experiences, and is drawn to vibrant environments. His everyday life encompasses work, workouts, and occasional visits to a public bathhouse for a sauna. With a creative and artistic flair, he finds joy in going to concerts, and capturing memories through photography - whether as the subject or the one behind the lens.
"I love traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures, which is why I appreciate Club AFRY. I've explored rock climbing and various other activities through the activity club. Besides, I've participated in a choir in my spare time, and taken private dance lessons to explore salsa, bachata, and zouk dancing."

Living in the moment
Danis is uncertain about the future and chooses to embrace the present moment by giving his best, and "going with the flow". He holds a belief that taking ownership of one's work and performing diligently paves the way for future rewards.
"My goal is to grow as a person within my profession and expand my knowledge and skills. I am reminded of a wonderful phrase from the great Russian author, A.P. Chekhov, which I strive to adhere to: 'Everything about a person should be beautiful: his face, his clothes, his soul and his thoughts.'"
