Loek Eg

I began my career as a mechanical engineer. This background has proved valuable in my current role as a project manager, where I am always striving to improve and optimise.

Loek is a brave and committed leader who always does his best to inspire his team to achieve common goals. He has an efficient and improvement-oriented work style that creates value for both customers and employees.

How long have you been working at AFRY and how did you get here?

I have been working at AFRY since March 2022. That gives me 1,67 years of experience at AFRY. When you move to another country like I did, you can't be 100% sure if you are going to like it in that country. Time will tell.

The same thought came to me when I started to do job interviews. I wasn’t sure if I really would thrive at one of those companies. Then I realized it would be wise to have the flexibility AFRY can offer. That together with AFRY’s enormous network seemed to me like the right starting point of my professional life in Sweden.

What is your current assignment?

Today I have an assignment at a leading global company in transport solutions and heavy vehicles. I´m leading an investment project for the Carbon Fiber Synchro department.

We shift from an energy-consuming sandblasting technology to a clean and efficient Laser technology in the production process. This is a new ground to explore for us and the customer.

What do you enjoy most about Project Management and Leadership?

TEAMWORK. To me, getting things done together with other people feels great. As a leader, you have the challenge to get everyone motivated and on-board projects. The times I succeed in that is what drives me.

Besides that, I love to see the personal growth of everyone involved during intense projects.

Six years ago I worked on a project where I needed more team members, but my managers didn't have the time to handle that. Luckily they gave me the freedom to set up the team and the rest of the project. This is where I first came in contact with project management. What kept me attracted is that I noticed I can create efficient teams that are optimized for finishing projects.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

You can find me often in the climbing gym, training for climbing outdoors in the most beautiful places around the world. I feel best together with a friend at a vertical wall a couple hundred meters above the ground.

If you did not find me climbing, you most likely find me I my shed where I love to do woodworking. Furniture with fancy features is what I like to make the most.

Furthermore, I recently became a father. Spending time with my daughter starts to feel like a great hobby too.

What Future dreams do you have?

Building a house together with the best team in the world. My family.
