AFRY at COP30: Launching new report on how to accelerate the climate transition
AFRY releases its latest Fossil Detox Progress Report
AFRY joins Sweden’s official business delegation at COP30 and presents new insights into the climate transition through its latest Fossil Detox Progress Report. As part of a coalition of leading export and climate tech companies, AFRY contributes to discussions on scalable climate solutions.
In connection to COP30, AFRY is releasing its latest Fossil Detox Progress Report, offering a comprehensive update on the global transition away from fossil fuels and fossil-based materials.
Global greenhouse gas emissions remain on an upward trajectory, far from the 42% reduction needed by 2030 to stay aligned with the Paris Agreement. Renewable energy is an important key to phase out fossil fuels, and last year, renewable energy saw real momentum with 585 GW of renewable energy capacity added, but many challenges persist. To stay on track for net zero, renewables must scale much faster, not only in installed capacity but in terms of system integration, permitting acceleration, and flexibility.
AFRY’s new report highlights critical bottlenecks that threaten progress toward net zero and where progress is accelerating and where gaps remain.
“The challenge is no longer about identifying solutions, but about accelerating implementation, scaling investments, and ensuring that the transformation is just, resilient, and competitive,” said Pålsson.
AFRY’s Fossil Detox Progress Report will be used in conversations with peers, decision-makers and experts at COP30, focusing on how to accelerate the sustainability transition.
The Swedish delegation at COP30 aims to strengthen Sweden’s contribution to the Paris Agreement, advance international climate efforts, and simultaneously promote Swedish competitiveness, global trade, and alignment with the 2030 Agenda.
