AFRY expands its operations in the Mining and Metals sector in Brazil
Pöyry, part of AFRY, has decided to strengthen its operations and competences towards Mining & Metals sector clients in Brazil. To reach that goal, company has opened a new office in Ipatinga and continues to grow the existing office in Belo Horizonte.
Brazil has the second-largest iron ore reserves in the world, the fourth-largest bauxite reserves, and the sixth-largest gold ore reserves. As the demand for minerals in different industrial sectors grows due to new end products, like solar panels or electric batteries, the Mining and Metals sector in Brazil and around the world is growing too. Pöyry, part of AFRY group, as a major supplier of Engineering and Consulting services in the industrial sector in Brazil, has decided to expand its operations to increase support for the growth of the Mining & Metals sector.
The expansion of Pöyry’s Belo Horizonte office (MG) had already started early 2020 and nowadays it employs more than 100 professionals. The new office in Ipatinga (MG), with a multidisciplinary team and strong competence, will focus specifically on the local companies in Steel Valley. With this operating model, Pöyry is able to serve its clients locally, supported by the global competence of AFRY’s expert network.

By utilising its expertise from the sector, Pöyry is capable of providing its clients with services for the entire value chain and lifecycle operations, starting from early phase studies to full scale project implementation and operational phase services.
