AFRY signs an engineering and consulting services frame agreement with ARAUCO in Chile

Celulosa Arauco y Constitución (ARAUCO) and AFRY have signed a frame agreement to provide engineering and consulting services for ARAUCO’s pulp production units in Chile. The contract provides services for several phases of current investment projects as well as adjustments to existing systems. The frame agreement increases the agility with which engineering services can be contracted for the number of engineering demands.

ARAUCO is a Chilean company with businesses in forestry, cellulose, wood, panels, and clean and renewable energy business. It is a world leader in sustainable forestry and develops sustainable and renewable products that aim to improve the quality of life of millions of people around the world. AFRY has been contributing to ARAUCO’s projects for decades. Recently, among other projects, AFRY participated in the study for ARAUCO’s Licancel Plant to allow the expansion of water reuse in the pulp production line as part of the company’s sustainability objectives.

With the frame agreement, services are ordered through a Service Order (SO) process, according to ARAUCO’s needs. The ordering process speeds up the contracting of services as the conditions are already pre-approved by the parties. The AFRY team in Chile will coordinate and carry out the activities which can also be supported by the professionals in other AFRY offices globally.

“The signing of this contract reaffirms ARAUCO’s confidence in the quality of services developed by AFRY and gives continuity to a long-term partnership, in which we will continue to bring our expertise from decades of activity in the pulp sector,” says Rodrigo Brisighello, Head of Business Process Industry Division at AFRY Chile. He continues, “Our recognized technical quality, our ability to deliver and meet deadlines, as well as the suitability with which we are perceived by the global engineering and consulting market were decisive factors in AFRY being awarded this contract.”

AFRY, which has been operating in Chile since 2015 in the Energy sector, expanded its operations to process industries, notably Pulp & Paper, as of 2019, with a new office in the capital city of Chile, Santiago. A global reference in the sector, AFRY was at the forefront of the implementation of the world’s largest Pulp & Paper factories. The company integrates the Group’s current network of 50 offices and 17,000 employees worldwide and provides cutting-edge solutions for infrastructure, industry and energy, with services linked to globalization and urbanization, digitalization, climate change, and sustainability.
