Mats Karlsson Landré, top OT security advisor in the Nordics, joins AFRY
AFRY welcomes one of the top OT (operational technology) security advisors in the Nordics. Mats is a former security manager from the Swedish nuclear industry that switched tracks to become a security advisor with a primary focus on OT security.
I am happy that Mats has chosen to join AFRY and the Cyber Security Team. He will play an important role in strengthening our cyber security offering towards clients.

Mats Karlsson Landré, tell us about your background!
For two decades I worked as IT security manager for a company that manufacture fuel and control rods for nuclear power plants. My responsibilities included securing a highly interesting combination of operations such as: manufacturing under strict safety and regulatory requirements, engineering, R&D and field services. This has given me experience in different areas of security, such as OT security, IT security, information security and physical protection.
For the last three and a half years I’ve worked as a consultant security advisor with a strong focus on OT security, i.e., securing the use of technology in physical operations with clients from various industries.
Why did you choose AFRY?
The primary thing is benefiting from the heritage of a true engineering company while being part of a powerful investment in ensuring security is a primary component of all systems and services.
What do you bring to the table?
I have spent most of my career with one foot in IT and the other firmly planted in manufacturing which is something not many people get the chance to experience. I understand how these two worlds work and why they sometimes collide. Understanding the people, their motivations and the technologies from these two worlds, gives great insights on how they can work better and more safely together.
What’s your USP?
I would say it is the mix of advanced, hands-on technical knowledge with real-life experience of industrial security management work that allow me to support and communicate with everybody from the factory floor to the board room.
What do you do in your spare time?
There is a fine line between my working hours and spare time, but when I’m off, you find me riding my mountain bike in the woods in Västerås (Sweden), playing with our two Siberian cats or doing various chores to keep the house and garden look good.
