AFRY supports the modernisation of the Stratzdorf substation in Austria while keeping it fully operational

Netz Niederösterreich GmbH has awarded AFRY the contract for the comprehensive renewal of the Stratzdorf substation in Theiß, Lower Austria. The project supports the modernisation of the region’s electricity infrastructure and contributes to a more resilient and sustainable energy system.

The assignment includes the construction of a new air-insulated 110 kV outdoor switchgear and a control building, as well as the integration of advanced secondary systems and automation technology. AFRY’s scope covers engineering, delivery, installation, commissioning, and documentation.

A particular challenge is that the entire renewal will be carried out during live operation, ensuring continuous electricity supply throughout the works. The modernised substation will significantly strengthen regional supply security and create additional capacity for the integration of renewable energy.

The Stratzdorf substation renewal is one of many projects that reflect AFRY’s long-standing experience in high-voltage infrastructure. It joins a broad portfolio of similar assignments that have been contributing to stable and modern energy systems worldwide.

By renewing the Stratzdorf substation during live operation, AFRY demonstrates its technical expertise and commitment to delivering a durable solution that will ensure the region’s energy supply for many years to come
