AFRY is honoured to play a central role in the Car Design News (CDN) People Awards jury 2024. This prestigious event celebrates the outstanding design talent shaping the future of automotive design at an award ceremony in London on December 5th.
This year, AFRY sponsored the prestigious ‘Beyond Automotive Design Award’, a category first presented with AFRY’s support three years ago. This award category especially highlights innovations that push the boundaries of traditional automotive design and projects that prioritise holistic thinking and tackle broader issues like mobility-as-a-service (MaaS), infrastructure, circularity, and cultural impact.
The sponsorship of this particular award category underscores AFRY’s commitment to fostering creativity and reimagining the future of mobility. By also being invited to the award-judging process by CDN, we continue our active engagement in the industry.
Our expertise alongside global Automotive leaders
The 2024 judging panel, comprised of global leaders in automotive design, had the difficult task of evaluating entries that challenge the norms and redefine innovation within the industry.
Representing AFRY on the jury was Creative Director Robert Dolton, who emphasised the importance of taking part in this event.
"It was a privilege to be asked to contribute to this year’s judging panel. It is a fantastic endorsement of the knowledge we have within AFRY and our design studio, that we were asked to be part of these awards. The talent on display was humbling, and it was extremely difficult to choose winners amongst entries of such high quality," he says.
Upcoming awards ceremony in London
The judging day took place at Nissan Design Centre Europe on September 5th, but the winners are still to be announced during the grand event at the Londoner Hotel, Leicester Square, on December 5th.
Over 450 industry leaders are expected, including the shortlisted entries from global automotive brands, such as Hyundai, Nissan, Bentley, Zeekr, Mahindra, Kia, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Aston Martin, Changan, Volvo, Audi, Honda, Tesla, FAW, Polestar, Nio and Harman Automotive.
