Blominmäki wastewater treatment plant winner in Tekla Global BIM Awards 2020

Blominmäki

The biennial competition showcases the world’s most impressive structural construction projects that use Tekla solutions. The Blominmäki wastewater treatment plant project in Finland was selected as the winner of category Best Industrial Project.

Trimble has announced the winners of its Tekla Global Building Information Modeling (BIM) Awards. The winners were selected by a committee of industry experts, which assessed the collaboration, implementation, innovation and constructability of the projects.

"The winners perfectly combine visionary use of technology and bravery to break conventions to enable smarter and more efficient design and construction process,” the committee stated.

The new Blominmäki wastewater treatment plant to be built in Espoo, Finland, will be the most productive of its kind in the Nordics. AFRY provided architectural, structural, electrical and instrumentation design, regional planning and rock engineering for the project. The design required vast data management capacity, and good collaboration through information modelling was critical to the project success.

The project was carried out in collaboration of AFRY, Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority HSY, YIT, Finnish Consulting Group and A-Insinöörit. Over 135 projects from 36 countries entered the competition this year. The winners of Tekla regional BIM Awards proceed to the global competition.
