Dezeen Awards 2021
Light Bureau wins the Architectural lighting of the year 2021 award at this year’s Dezeen Awards
Yesterday, Light Bureau’s team in London was awarded the prestigious Dezeen Award for the lighting concept at Maggie’s centre in Leeds, with the following comment by the jury:
"This project is beautifully done, and well-considered for the respective spaces. There is a play between the architecture, nature and lighting."
Maggie's Leeds is the cancer charity's twenty-sixth care centre in the UK. The centre is located on the hospital grounds, but the lighting was a key component to make people feel calm and at home as soon as they stepped through the doors.
The lighting was designed to be warm, comfortable, intuitive to use and to provide a visual connection between the interior and exterior space.
We are truly honoured to win the Architectural lighting of the year and so proud of this project and all the recognition we have received for our work at Maggie’s Leeds. I would like to thank Maggie’s and Heatherwick Studio for trusting us with this assignment and for letting us be a part of designing such an important space”, says Paloma Plumed, Lighting designer at Light Bureau.
