Pöyry, part of AFRY, contributes to Softys' surgical masks donation initiative in the fight against Covid-19

Pöyry, part of AFRY, announces that it has expanded its actions to support combating the pandemic and contributed to Softys' initiative to donate surgical masks to public health units in the states of São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Pernambuco.

“The support of various companies is essential to help Brazil face the greatest health challenge in history. For this reason, we have contributed our expertise in engineering and installation of equipment as well as the technical capacity of our team to this initiative,” says Fábio Bellotti da Fonseca, President of Pöyry in Brazil. He emphasizes that supporting health service workers in fighting the pandemic is a very important project.

Softys, which has already started donating surgical masks, announced that the first batches produced by the new machine installed at its factory in Caieiras (SP) will be donated to public health agents. The company's machine, which is part of CMPC, will expand the capacity to produce masks at the current level from 1.5 million units to 14 million units per month.

“Our intention is to distribute these masks to help prevent the spread of the virus,” says Luis Delfim, General Director of Softys in Brasil.

Pöyry has provided pro bono engineering services to help with the utilities and infrastructure needed to install the new machine. “The idea is that everything is ready for the installation and commissioning—the process of checking and testing the equipment against the project specifications—of the machine to happen as soon as possible,” adds Bellotti da Fonseca.
