ÅF and Ericsson form a partnership in the Scandinavian market to introduce mobile connectivity for industrial applications. The collaboration aims to strengthen the offer towards various industry segments, accelerate digital transformation and solve pain points in production.
A new connectivity foundation is necessary to make manufacturing truly smart. With the new standards in mobile connectivity almost every asset can be connected and managed to solve operational challenges. In many cases making wires redundant, production lines can be reconfigured faster for flexible production, issue a broader mix of customized products and transparency in operations. By deploying secure, mobile networks to industrial sites, use cases for critical as well as massive IoT applications can flourish. Measuring, tracking and interconnecting different activities will be simpler, supporting more data-driven processes on one communication platform.
To fully utilize the technology and grow the new ecosystem, partnerships are essential. ÅF and Ericsson combine expertise, in consultancy, integration services and connectivity to create a transformative offering. The evolution towards 5G will bring even more opportunities, and the partnership will shape connectivity standards, enabling industrial players to reach their full potential.
“With ÅF’s deep industry and digitalization knowledge and Ericsson’s expertise within connectivity, we will lead our customers into Industry 4.0”, says Jonas Gustavsson, CEO and President ÅF Group.
“We bring secure wireless technologies to the manufacturing industry and ÅF brings integration abilities and industry knowledge to industries.
