ÅF appoints new member of Group Management

ÅF appoints Malin Frenning as new Head of the Infrastructure Division and as a member of Group Management. Malin has extensive experience with infrastructure and digitalisation from leading positions at TeliaSonera Group and has most recently worked as County Council Director for the Stockholm County Council. She will enter the position at ÅF on 1 February 2019.

“I’m very pleased that Malin is taking on the role as EVP and Head of Infrastructure Division at ÅF. She has extensive experience as a leader in large, complex organisations in both the private and public sectors. Malin also has an extensive, valuable background within digitalisation and technology from the telecoms industry, which means that she will be a great asset and strong motivator as we increase the value of our services and grow the business in the Nordics and internationally,” says Jonas Gustavsson, President and CEO of ÅF.

Malin has more than 20 years of experience in large organisations with a heavy focus on clients where sustainability, digitalisation and innovation have been key to their development. Since 2010, she has held leading positions at TeliaSonera Group and been member of Group Management, as CEO of Telia Sweden and as President for Business Area Broadband. Since 2016, Malin has been CEO for the County Council of Stockholm, which has 44,000 employees. She has been a member inseveral boards and is currently on the board of Hexatronic Group. In 2011, Malin was named the most powerful woman in Swedish business by Veckans Affärer, a Swedish business magazine. She has a degree in mechanical engineering from Luleå University of Technology where she was also appointed Technology Honorary Doctor.

Digitalization, urbanization and sustainability are areas that I have worked with throughout my career and I look forward to doing so within ÅF both in Sweden and internationally”, says Malin Frenning.

Malin will commence her new position on 1 February 2019. Mats Påhlsson, the current head of the division retires in March, but will continue for some time as senior advisor at ÅF, focusing on the planned integration of ÅF and Pöyry.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank Mats for successfully building one of the Nordic region’s leading infrastructure engineering and design operations. Now we are taking the next step and I appreciate that Mats is continuing as a senior advisor with us,” concludes Jonas Gustavsson.

The Infrastructure Division offers design and technical solutions for properties and infrastructure. In 2017, the division had net sales of just over SEK 5 billion and currently has approximately 4,500 employees.
