The concert hall cum conference centre Malmö Live was just named best building project of the year 2016 in Sweden’s annual contest Årets Bygge. This means that ÅF has been on the winning team for as many as four years in a row!
The Building Project of the Year contest is organised by Svensk Byggtjänst and Byggindustrin, with the purpose of showcasing building projects characterized by excellent quality, cooperation, cost control and design. It was recently announced that this year’s winner is Malmö Live, where ÅF has participated as a subcontractor to Skanska, among others.
ÅF consultants have been involved from the very beginning. Ever since the project was launched three years ago, they have inspected and tested all plumbing and piping installations for heating and air conditioning, water and sewage.
This was a large and complicated project, with challenging environmental targets. Apart from two concert halls, the complex houses a congress hall, a restaurant, a parking garage and 450 hotel rooms.
”And if you’re going to have that number of hotel guests taking a shower at the same time, then everything must work really well, says section manager Peter Sjödin of ÅF. ”Then everything must be correctly connected, pressure tested and fire resistant.”
