ÅF wins major work order of a 444MW hydro power project in India

ÅF has signed an agreement worth 2.15 CHF million with Hindustan Construction
Company Ltd (EPC Contractor). ÅF will provide construction design engineering
services for the 444 MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti hydro electric project in Uttarakand
State of India

ÅF has signed an agreement  worth 2.15 CHF million with Hindustan Construction
Company Ltd (EPC Contractor). ÅF will provide construction design engineering
services for the 444 MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti hydro electric project in Uttarakand
State of India, being implemented by Tehri Hydro Power Development Corporation,
a public sector entity. The services will be jointly executed by ÅF units
in India and Switzerland.

The project covers construction of 444MW hydro
power Project, funded by World Bank and the components include: 

70m high gravity spillway dam

  • intake
  • 3 underground desander caverns
  • 16 km long head race tunnel by tunnel boring machine
  • surge shaft
  • pressure shaft
  • underground powerhouse cavern
  • surge chamber
  • tailrace tunnel


The main tasks in the contract include concrete structural design and
construction drawings for all components.The contract is for five years, and
major scope of contract will be covered in first three years.
