AFRY enters into a strategic collaboration with Swedish startup Endra to explore AI driven design efficiencies in building systems.

AFRY has entered into a strategic collaboration with tech company Endra, who have developed an AI based platform designed to support MEP engineering within electrical, and fire safety design. The purpose is to improve quality, efficiency, and sustainability in building design.

“AI has the potential to transform how we design and deliver buildings,” says Thomas Hoff, Head of Public & Commercial Places in Sweden at AFRY. “To stay competitive and relevant, we need to explore new digital opportunities. By joining forces with Endra, we can evaluate the technology from the inside and help shape solutions that benefit our clients, our people, and the wider industry.”

The platform developed by Endra shows early promise in automating and improving the accuracy of MEP system design, particularly in the early phases of building projects. The strategic collaboration allows AFRY to build hands on experience in the application of AI — an area where the company sees strong long-term potential.

“Using AI to strengthen our delivery is at the core of AFRY’s strategy. We see that many people are concerned that consultancy firms might become redundant because of AI. But rather than replacing the value of expertise, AI will amplify it – enabling consultants to focus on deeper analysis, sharper insights and more strategic impact”, says Ylva Berg, CIO at AFRY.

The strategic collaboration will run throughout Endra’s development phase. Results and insights will be shared along the way.

AFRY provides engineering, project management, and advisory services that enable the energy and industrial transition and strengthen resilience in society.
