Swiss federal road authority (FEDRO) has awarded AFRY, as part of a consortium, two lots in the refurbishment of the Zurich western bypass.
The Western Bypass, comprising the A1, A3, and A4 motorways, reduces traffic congestion in the city of Zurich. Since its inauguration in 2009, the bypass has significantly alleviated traffic within the city, providing a more efficient route for commuters and freight transport.
For highway modernisation and the rehabilitation of traffic systems, AFRY, as part of different consortia, has been awarded two lots for the operating and safety equipment. In February, the scope of planning and supervision of the tunnel lighting, and in April, the scope of project designer responsible for the traffic systems.
‘We are happy to contribute to the modernisation of the transport infrastructure in the Zurich area and look forward to continued collaborations with both FEDRO and our partners in the consortium’, says Marcel Winter, Country Manager for AFRY in Switzerland.
Estimated order value for AFRY for the first lot is 50 MSEK and 138 MSEK for the traffic engineering from 2025 until 2035.
