Malin Frenning appointed to Swedish government cooperation programme

Tue, 11/02/2020 - 09:00 CET

Last summer, the Swedish government announced four cooperation programmes, for the term of 2019-2022, aimed at further strengthening the cooperation between the private sector, academia and government. Malin Frenning, Head of Division Infrastructure at AFRY, has been chosen to be a part of the cooperation group focused on climate change adaptation in the private sector.

The cooperation programmes are based on the idea of a joint effort to strengthen Sweden’s power of innovation and competitiveness on the global arena, and to meet the challenges facing society. The Swedish government’s vision is for Sweden to take the lead on issues related to the climate and the environment, and become the world’s first fossil-free welfare state.

The programmes are rooted in the belief that the green transition and digitalisation will create new ways of, among other things, making business, producing goods, travelling, living and communicating. This development means significant opportunities for better health, welfare, gender equality and new work opportunities.

Ibrahim Baylan, Minister for Business, Industry and Innovation, has appointed Malin Frenning, Head of Division Infrastructure at AFRY, to take part in the cooperation group focused on climate change adaptation in the private sector. The group will have an advisory role and consist of experts and representatives of the private sector, academia and the civil society.

“It’s an honour to have been entrusted a place in this cooperation group. The government’s target is for Sweden to have zero net emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere by 2045. The private sector constitutes an integral part of the solution, which is why I am very happy be a part of this group and contribute to this target,” says Malin Frenning, Head of Division Infrastructure.

The appointment lasts from February this year until August 2022.
