AFRY in Myanmar
AFRY's presence in Myanmar dates back to 2000. We started operating in the country as "Colenco Power Engineering, Myanmar" (CPEM) and, since 2020, the company has worked under "AFRY Switzerland Ltd, Myanmar Branch".
AFRY has been the Engineering Consultant for 13 hydropower projects in Myanmar.
- Constructed and commissioned projects: Yeywa 790 MW, Upper Paungluang 140 MW, and Baluchang 3 48 MW.
- In-house engineering service projects: Nancho 40 MW, Thaythay 111MW, Upper Yeywa 280 MW, Kun 60 MW, Upper Keng Tawng 51 MW.
- Feasibility study projects: Deedoke 56 MW, Tamanthi 1200 MW, Pyaung-Sho (Middle Yeywa) 230 MW, Upper Paungluang, Shweli 3 1050 MW, Middle Paungluang 156 MW.
- Detail designed and under construction projects: Shweli 3 1050 MW and 672/730 MW, Upper Yeywa 280 MW and Middle Paungluang 166 MW.
AFRY Myanmar has its headquarters in Yangon and operates a design office in Mandalay. It undertakes all design drawings (feasibility, basic, tender, detailed, construction and as-built stages including coordination drawings for HSS and EM) for all projects in Myanmar as well as for several international AFRY projects.
The mission of the Mandalay Design Office is to produce world-class hydropower design drawings with local expertise trained for over two decades under direct supervision from Switzerland. The Mandalay Design Office has also been the center for delivering services related to geological investigation, construction site supervision and advisory services for the Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MOEE) on various transmission lines and thermal projects.
AFRY is a trusted international consultant renowned in Myanmar for its extensive professional experience in hydropower and other energy projects. AFRY has had local experts for over two decades, supporting clients throughout all project stages. This has enabled AFRY to strengthen the competence of their local staff in hydropower design drawing production.
