AFRY in the United Kingdom
AFRY UK was formed after ÅF and Pöyry joined forces in February 2019. Pöyry previously had a long history in the UK, establishing its first UK office in 1966 and broadening its offerings in the 1990s and 2000s with Pöyry Management Consulting and Pöyry Capital. Light Bureau joined ÅF in 2017, offering lighting solutions for infrastructure projects, architecture, and urban planning.
Today, AFRY UK comprises offices in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Horsham, London, Oxford, Plymouth, and Warrington. Our team of experts provides engineering, design and advisory services to clients working in infrastructure, industry, and energy.
Our thermal and renewable energy team provides clients with help and support at all project stages, including technical and economic feasibility studies, technology assessments, technical due diligence reviews, Lenders’ Engineer services, front-end engineering design (FEED) studies, owner’s engineer services, engineering-procurement-construction-management (EPCM) services, operation and maintenance support and optimisation and expert witness services. Technologies covered include solar PV, onshore and offshore wind, battery storage, CCGT, OCGT, reciprocating engines, biomass, waste-to-energy, district heating, carbon capture and hydrogen.
AFRY is also renowned for delivering the highest levels of service in the nuclear sector. We bring deep local understanding and international expertise going back over 40 years of nuclear power generation. Supporting all stages of plant and project lifecycle from concept development, feasibility studies, commercial modelling and business case development through to project development and implementation services, AFRY is a trusted partner to our clients.
In Bioindustry our Management Consulting team provides advice to clients across the bioeconomy value chains. In Energy, our expertise in the UK covers all aspects of the clean energy transition, from market analysis and strategy to investments, project development and implementation, and operations. AFRY Capital is an M&A advisory business. Its sector focus reflects the world-leading expertise of AFRY, notably in Bioindustry, Packaging, Energy & Infrastructure and Industrials.
