AFRY in Vietnam

AFRY’s long history in Vietnam goes back to its first project in Hanoi in 1978 and the establishment of a representative office in 1997. However, it is in the last twenty years that AFRY has grown to be one of the leading providers of international consulting engineering services in Vietnam.

In the past, the company operated in Vietnam under the brand names of “Electrowatt Engineering”, “Pöyry”, “Colenco” and “ÅF Consult”. In 2020, AFRY established a local subsidiary, AFRY Vietnam Limited, with its headquarters in Hanoi.

AFRY currently has about 50 staff in Vietnam and is active in power generation (including renewable wind and solar power), waste-to-energy, LNG, pulp and paper, forestry, automotive, infrastructure, water and wastewater, environmental and management consulting sectors. With our services, we can cover the whole project life cycle from early phase development through construction and commissioning, as well as operations support.

Over the years, AFRY has executed over 150 consulting engineering assignments in the country.

We have an overall track record of providing owner’s engineering services for the construction of 10,000 MW of thermal, hydro, wind and solar power in Vietnam, representing over 15% of the installed power generation capacity. In addition, AFRY has been Lenders Technical Advisor in 5,000 MW of power generation projects in Vietnam. AFRY has completed over 20 assignments with different cities and municipalities throughout Vietnam in the field of urban infrastructure development and engineering. In the environmental and social sectors, AFRY has undertaken over 20 assignments.

AFRY is supporting the first domestic car company of Vietnam in research and development projects for future products.
