AFRY builds production line for Oatly in Singapore

The oat drink manufacturer Oatly takes the next step in its global expansion and starts production in Singapore. AFRY has won an order for a turn-key project to build the production line for oat base, where the technology is a development of previous common projects between AFRY and Oatly.

Since earlier, Oatly and AFRY have a close collaboration that covers Oatly’s production facilities in Sweden, USA and the Netherlands. As part of the establishment on the Asian market, Oatly starts its own production in Singapore, where AFRY is responsible for project management, process design, mechanical and electrical design as well as delivery of all equipment, installation and commissioning of a turn-key production line.

To ensure that the products have the same quality, AFRY benefits from the learnings of previous projects and design of processes in Oatly’s factories in Sweden, USA and the Netherlands. In addition, the process for energy and water efficiency is optimised. Local production also means reduced transport distances that contribute to a lower climate impact. Oatly is a company with sustainability in focus and a climate smart production and logistics process are absolutely crucial.

The production plant is expected to be operational in February 2021.
