AFRY delivers 3D Printing solution within MedTech
Helping PhD Students with right laboratory equipment
AFRY is involved in a project called AM4Life, a Competence Centre which supports competence and research development in the field of life sciences.
The vision for the Competence Centre is to become a global player in the education, research and development of additively manufactured materials and components for life science applications, and thereby provide patients with an enhanced quality of life.
Additive Manufacturing for the Life Sciences Competence Centre (AM4Life), hosted by Uppsala University, wanted AFRY to spread information about AM (Additive Manufacturing) and needed some help with designing laboratory equipment. Johan Rössner is one of several people in systems and mechanical engineering who have been involved from AFRY.
"There is a great need for increased cooperation and knowledge sharing between fields and stakeholders in order to advance at a satisfactory pace, and that is the reason for the creation of this Centre, says Johan Rössner", Section Manager at AFRY.
3D Printing solution
AFRY has helped one of the work packages with the development of the research equipment. Together with researchers we have designed an innovative climate chamber to control the temperature and humidity locally where the printing process is taking place without having the whole printer in the climate chamber.
When printing trivial details with Additive Manufacturing, it is important to control the humidity. Without controlled temperature and humidity, it is not possible to print during some periods of the year because it is to dry or to humid. The climate chamber is designed with standard components which are easy to find on the market. This climate chamber will be used within the research program regarding Development of equipment and processes.
AFRY has helped us to develop the research equipment by adding competence of how to use standard components
