AFRY is developing mechanical design of hormone reader for inne by Feral
Mechanical development for a start-up within the MedTech industry
inne by Feral, a German biotech start-up, is the world's first at-home fertility monitoring system, using your saliva. They contacted AFRY when they needed a reliable partner for mechanical plastic design to be a part of the project team together with other external consultants in Germany and Poland.
Henrik Anderberg Flemström works as a Section Manager within Mechanical Engineering at AFRY and has been in business contact with inne for 1,5 years.
“The designer hired by inne had previous experience from working with me in another project and wanted us as a partner in this project as well”, says Henrik.
David Sahlin, Senior Mechanical Engineer at AFRY has been on an assignment with inne for 1 year.
“The client was running the project, and we were big part of the mechanical design”, says David.
The challenge
inne by Feral wanted AFRY for realizing their concept for a hand-held hormone reader. The assignment has involved the development of an existing concept, regarding to material selection, detail design, assembly, packing, and supplier selection.
During the project, AFRY worked remotely in a cross-functional development team together with the client and various technical consultants in both Germany and Poland, where they occasionally also had physical meetings.
David’s responsibility was to adapt the early prototypes for production by optimizing the design for injection molding and assembly, based on the client's design surfaces.
“We were also involved in the start of the production and developed a production fixture for the assembly line”, says David .
Henrik Anderberg Flemström was responsible for contact and sales, and got the right resources for the project.
“We also helped the client with resources within packaging development, by finding a suitable supplier for their packaging", says Henrik.
The solution
AFRY helped the client through different challenges in the project, from designing the mechanical parts to find other AFRY resources to help out in other areas like packaging development and environmental/sustainability concerns.
Client benefit
AFRY has offered extensive services and support, related to mechanical engineering, plastic design and technical advice, including design of fixtures to setup of our assembly line for the inne reader.
Apart from helping to adjust injection molding tools and electrical components, AFRY was invaluable during the development of our reader and also by generously sharing contacts to set up new partnerships for manufacturing
The collaboration with AFRY continues to be seamless, delightful and highly appreciated by the whole team at inne. AFRY is a very reliable partner to work with and have consistently delivered solutions in line with our high ambitions
Filip von Hauswolff, Senior Industrial Designer at inne by Feral
