BUBS leads the way in sustainable food production in Sweden

AFRY supports BUBS’ expansion as global demand for sustainable food industry grows.

With its state-of-the-art, sustainable factory in Jönköping, BUBS Candy has become a role model for Swedish food companies. AFRY is proud to be part of BUBS's journey, helping them grow globally while reducing their climate impact.

From Swedish innovation to global success

Since its start in 1992, BUBS has been a driving force in Sweden’s food industry. With a passion for flavor, texture, and shape, they’ve created products like the iconic Raspberry/Licorice Skull while challenging industry norms by being the first to launch vegan foam and gummy candy. Their production is completely gelatin-free, vegan, and free from palm oil, and the company uses Fairtrade-certified sugar — concrete steps that support both climate efforts and social responsibility.

At AFRY, we work to strengthen the Swedish food industry by providing sustainable and innovative solutions. BUBS is an excellent example of how Swedish companies can combine tradition and innovation to create competitive products for a global market. One example is their energy-efficient initiatives like solar panels, heat recovery, and pellet burners at the factory.

Despite global attention, fueled in part by the “Swedish Candy” trend, BUBS has chosen to maintain and expand its production in Jönköping, Sweden. In doing so, they strengthen Sweden’s food industry and demonstrate that even candy can compete on a global scale.
