Curida streamlines quality processes with AFRY

Streamlining digital workflows for future-ready growth

Curida, a Norwegian CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) specializing in sterile and non-sterile liquid pharmaceuticals, partnered with AFRY to modernize and future-proof their quality management systems.

To support continued growth and remain future-ready, Curida set out to upgrade and optimize its quality systems and processes, creating a more connected digital quality management system landscape that would enable faster decision-making, clearer insights, and scalable operations.

From tradition to transformation

Curida’s plant in Elverum, Norway, has a rich history, beginning in the 1970s and evolving through several ownerships before becoming an employee-driven company in 2015. To stay agile and support future growth, Curida focused on improving visibility, reinforcing data integrity, and better aligning quality workflows across the plant.

Curida identified that MasterControl, a modern electronic quality management system (eQMS), would best meet their requirements. Curida also needed a partner that could support the optimisation of existing processes and help fully integrate MasterControl’s functionalities. AFRY was selected as Curida’s partner to ensure a successful and sustainable transformation.

AFRY expertise leads the way in digital transformation

AFRY was chosen as a collaborative partner to support Curida through this transformation, providing tailored support in several key areas, including:

  • Project management to keep the transition on track and within scope
  • Process optimisation to adapt Curida’s workflows to the new system
  • Regulatory expertise to maintain strong GMP compliance
  • Change management and training to prepare employees for new ways of working

Training played a key role in enabling Curida’s team to fully leverage MasterControl’s capabilities, including document management, quality event handling, and training requirements. By identifying challenges early, the teams together designed solutions that allowed Curida to maintain the flexibility required for CDMO operations while harmonising and digitally enabling quality processes.

Results that strengthen data integrity and quality processes

With AFRY’s support, Curida achieved a smooth transition to a modernised digital quality management system. The new setup enhances visibility, supports more efficient decision-making, and harmonises workflows across the plant. Improved real-time data access gives Curida the agility to track key metrics, optimise operations, and establish a strong foundation for future growth.

“Moving to a fully digital platform has improved how we work every day, helping us to streamline the organisation with real-time data that helps measure KPIs more effectively. With AFRY’s support, we have implemented a system that enables us to stay agile and prepare for future challenges,” says Beate Alstergren, Quality Assurance Manager at Curida.

“Great collaboration made this project a true pleasure to work on. Together, we’ve not only created a system that meets today’s demands, the project has also prepared Curida for the future,” said Rakel Ekholt, Project Manager at AFRY.

Laying the foundations for long-term growth

By modernising their quality management systems and processes, Curida has strengthened their ability to innovate and scale. Improved data access and harmonised workflows enhance operational agility and support continuous improvement.

With growing expectations in 2025 for companies to adopt advanced digital quality management solutions, Curida’s transformation positions them as a forward-looking CDMO ready to meet evolving industry demands.
