Health & Safety in Project Helios

Project Helios – the expansion of SCA Östrand – is one of the biggest industrial investments of all time in Sweden and the biggest ever in northern Sweden.

The new factory was completed during 2018, giving SCA Östrand the world’s biggest production line for bleached softwood sulphate pulp. It is now a world-class factory in terms of product quality, the environment and competitiveness. This project has been named Helios after the god of the sun in Greek mythology. The investment of 7.8 billion SEK expanded the capacity from 430,000 to 900,000 tons of bleached softwood sulphate pulp per year. The project includes eight different subprojects.
