Scandinavia’s foremost shopping destination Mall of Scandinavia was inaugurated in 2015. Its 101 000 square metres, 250 shops and seven floors encompass fashion, design, technology, sports and a wide range of restaurants.
AFRY contributed with cost management services such as cost estimates, calculations, cost monitoring and tender and purchasing support. In shops and restaurants, our HVAC consultants adapted systems as per the requirements of individual tenants. AFRY also designed the ventilation, electrical and fire sprinkler systems for the large cinema. Most shops have glass fronts that are eight metres tall. AFRY coordinated the fitting process, which also involved shutters and steel portals.
AFRY has designed the lighting solutions for all public areas, from the functional lighting in the parking garage to the spectacular light features at entrances, indoor plazas and along walkways, and was awarded an honourable mention at the Lighting Design Awards i London.
In the design phase, the Mall of Scandinavia was classified as Excellent according to the international sustainability certification system BREEAM. In Europe, very few shopping centres have achieved such a high rating.
