AFRY is proud to serve as the local architect and general engineer of Savarin, a landmark urban redevelopment project designed by Thomas Heatherwick Studio in Prague’s historic city center. This transformative initiative reimagines a key area of the city by blending heritage preservation with modern urban design.

A unique location with shops, restaurants & offices

Situated just off Wenceslas Square, the Savarin development will transform the area into a vibrant public space connecting the major streets of Na Příkopě, Jindřišská, Panská, and Wenceslas Square.

Through a network of pedestrian-friendly passages, green courtyards, retail arcades, and cultural venues, a dynamic public space will be created.

The project aims to significantly enhance the quality of life for Prague residents by providing direct access to the metro and improving services, entertainment, public spaces, green areas and shopping options.

Savarin’s purpose is designed to create a vibrant new destination that will attract both locals and visitors, thereby making the heart of the city a more dynamic and appealing place for everyone.

Following the successful renovation of a Baroque palace on Na Příkopě Street, the next phase will involve rehabilitating more historic buildings and incorporating new architectural features that respect Prague’s distinctive urban fabric. The design strikes a balance between tradition and innovation, ensuring that new structures blend in with the city’s cultural and architectural heritage.

AFRY leads the comprehensive design process in close collaboration with internationally acclaimed designer Thomas Heatherwick.
