AFRY optimizes Logistics Flows for new production facility with focus on sustainability
When a leading company in the pulp and paper industry decided to expand, they sought AFRY´s strategic expertise to guide them through the process. AFRY´s role was to carry out a front-end loading (FEL) study, bringing clarity to the technical and financial conditions for the expansion.
The goal was to analyze technical and economic aspects and to identify the optimal location and design for a new production facility, integrated into an existing production site.
AFRY had overall responsibility for the FEL study, with the aim of creating a robust, sustainable, and future-proof production facility featuring an integrated solution for logistics and material flows within the existing plant.
The external flow analysis included a thorough review of infrastructure, perimeter protection, and transport flows to and from the facility, with a particular focus on safety and accessibility.
In the internal flow analysis, SCM focused on optimising warehouse design, selecting appropriate equipment, and creating efficient material handling. The solution was designed to support both current needs and future expansion, with flexibility as a key component.
The central part of the project was ensuring smooth collaboration with existing production units, where both personnel and product safety were highly prioritised.
