When
From: 09-July-2020
To: 09-July-2020
South Africa is the largest electricity market on the African continent. It has exceptional wind and solar resources. The IPP program contracted over 6GW of wind and solar between 2011 and 2015. The government’s Integrated Resource Plan foresees a further 20GW being deployed by 2030.
In this webinar, Alan Whitaker presents AFRY’s modelling of the long-term evolution of the electricity sector in South Africa. Brendan Cronin then moderates a panel discussion with key industry players on the prospects and challenges facing renewable electricity in South Africa. The panel includes:
- Bhavtik Vallabhjee (Head of Power, Utilities & Infrastructure, ABSA – Corporate & Investment Bank);
- Hein Reyneke (General Manager: Africa, Mainstream Renewable Power);
- Malibuye Cossie (Director, Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa); and
- Mike Levington (Director, Kabi Solar).
