Scania Truck

New renovation and upgrading project for Scania CV AB

AFRY starts a new project for Scania which involves complete upgrading and renovation of five die carts for pressing tools. Competence within AFRY from both Sweden and Czech Republic take part in the project and the first phase should be completed this summer.

The project "Renovation and Upgrade of Die Carts" involves renovation and upgrading of five of Scania's die carts (a type of wagon) for pressing tools. The die carts are used to transport different types of pressing tools in and out of Scania’s pressing machines in Oskarshamn, where steel parts are prepared for the company’s trucks. The die carts can weight up to 40 tons each.

The renovation includes abrasive blasting, painting, replacement of the majority of moving mechanical parts, replacement of all electrical equipment, replacing relay technology from the 90’s with modern automation, upgrading the safety and perfecting the die carts positioning.

-The challenge is to, under controlled conditions, jump-start the project together with subcontractors, in order to complete the first part of the project with installations during the holiday weeks this summer. I wish the project team with project manager Mikael Karlsson the best of luck, says Magnus Axelsson, Section Manager Advanced Automation in Oskarshamn, Sweden.
