Career Story - Santtu Koskinen

Santtu Koskinen, a consultant in the Bioindustry sector, explains life as a management consultant at AFRY.

What is your role at AFRY, and what is your professional background?

I am an analyst in the Bioindustry sector. My daily work mainly revolves around fibre-based packaging market analysis, cost competitiveness analysis and strategy work. Before joining AFRY in 2021, I worked in the pulp & energy industry in Valmet for two years. I have a master’s in Industrial Engineering and Management from Tampere University.

What do you enjoy about working for AFRY Management Consulting?

Being a management consultant, I especially enjoy the variety of the work. No project is the same, and every day tends to have some interesting twist. This gives an opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge in new ways while learning plenty of new ones. Secondly, it is important for me that my work has meaning and impact. Thus, it is always rewarding to work with clients and help them make important and large decisions that have not only an impact on them but also on society.

Which of the AFRY values, Brave, Devoted & Team Player, resonates with you most and why?

Of the three AFRY values, the closest to my heart is being a Team Player. In management consulting, people are really helpful, and you can go and talk to anyone about anything. People understand well that working as a team is crucial for our projects to succeed. Good teamwork also creates a nice and productive working environment.

Besides your job, tell us more about yourself. What do you like outside your work?

During the relatively short Finnish summer, I like to take the most out of it by being outdoors disc golfing, going on long walks or jogging with my dog and being in a summer cottage. During the colder wintertime, I most enjoy going to the gym, snowboarding or relaxing with a good book.
