AFRY expands its office presence to Australia

AFRY is expanding its physical presence into Australia building upon an already strong project track record, now establishing its office presence in Melbourne and Brisbane.

Australia is experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in the energy transition, all geared toward the ambitious 2050 net-zero emission target. The net-zero target will provide opportunities for many investments into renewable energy solutions across the continent - we can already foresee that there will be renewable generation and storage solutions deployed on an unseen GW-scale, including large investments into pumped storage hydropower projects. In addition, the hydrogen economy is gaining momentum faster than ever seen before.

At AFRY we are committed to accelerating change towards a sustainable world in the interest of future generations. We are passionate about transforming industries and creating value for clients and Australian society.

AFRY has developed and delivered proven solutions and value to clients globally – AFRY can deploy proven solutions in the energy transition to Australia fast, at the speed required for developers, investors, asset owners & operators and all other stakeholders.

The Australian Engineering office is led by Knut Sierotzki, Vice President Hydro Asia Pacific, and the Australian Management Consulting office is led by Joern Schwinge, Head of Energy Management Consulting – Knut and Joern will leverage AFRY’s global expertise in engineering and the energy transition for the Australian market.

Joern Schwinge comments:

There is real momentum in the energy transition in Australia aiming towards net-zero in 2050. Australia has such favourable natural conditions to become a thriving renewable economy. Australia can become a global example and leader in how to fast transform a carbon-emitting generation portfolio into a green energy economy. Australia has the potential to create impact beyond its borders by contributing to limit the global temperature rise.

Matt Brown, Vice President for AFRY Management Consulting, adds:

The opportunities for investors and developers into renewable energy solutions are enormous, like a ‘green rush’ of the 21st century – opportunities emerge by the minute, ready to be explored now. As Australia’s geography allows ample access to wind, sun and land, Australia has a window of opportunity to act fast– Australia can build the foundations for a green local economy and also a globally competitive green export economy on the pathway to meet the net-zero target by 2050.
