AFRY has been awarded with creating the Technology Master Plan for smart solutions and functionalities of Ellinikon near Athens
Lamda Development has awarded AFRY with their contract for the creation of a Technology Master Plan for the Smart City and Smart Energy solutions in their “The Ellinikon” development.
The Ellinikon, on the site of the former airport of Athens, is one of Europe’s largest urban development projects at 6.2km2 in size, which is three times the size of Monaco. Lamda has very high sustainability objectives and developments will include several residential areas, five-star hotels, shopping centres, office and business districts, the largest coastal park, a modern marina and numerous sports facilities.
The AFRY team, led by AFRY Management Consulting and including engineering and digital experts, will develop system architecture and design guidelines based on cutting-edge technologies and innovative business models in a way that will enable the achievement of sustainability at Ellinikon. The project will be implemented in cooperation with highly qualified consulting companies in the energy, technology and telecommunications sectors such as Deloitte, CIGA Energy, CIMA Data Analytics and ENOMIX.
LAMDA Development's goal is to create a Smart City in the Ellinikon area for the benefit of residents, visitors and businesses operating in the area. With this project the company will create a global example of a smart city, more specifically "a state-of-the-art smart urban area that pioneers the future of living, working and entertainment through the use of technology to create conditions of sustainability and serve the needs of tomorrow".
Antonio Nodari of AFRY Management Consulting says “We are delighted to be part of the consortium and of the development phase of this project, as it is an exciting opportunity to join up of AFRY’s expertise in energy transition, smart infrastructure, networks, technologies and software in order to support the realisation of a truly smart city that will also serve as an example for similar projects in future.”
