The assignment relates to Forsmark reactors 1, 2 and 3 during the 2009-2011 outage periods, with an option to extend the contract for a further two years. The assignment involves both mechanised and manual testing. ÅF-Kontroll has also secured the contract to develop and qualify technology for the mechanised inspection of stainless steel welds. The project aims to extend the already qualified system for piping to also include the weld. This is a joint project for three Swedish utilities, Forsmark, Oskarshamn and Ringhals (led by Forsmark). The contract includes an option for annual testing up to and including 2013. The total order value is estimated to be SEK 25 million (approx. 2.1 million euros) over the first three years. Continuity and high levels of expertise based on extensive experience from ongoing undertakings were among the reasons cited for choosing ÅF-Kontroll. This assignment reinforces ÅF's position as the Swedish nuclear power industry's number one choice for periodic inspections.
