Liquid Light® - Energy optimization, without compromising aesthetics and visual comfort
Sustainability and Energy-savings
Liquid Light combined with functional lighting optimizes energy consumption and adds a unique visual expression.
Liquid Light is contextually designed with respect for human needs to ensure that our surroundings, both indoor and outdoor, have a positive impact on our well-being and quality of life. Sensors, real time data, and conventional data are utilized to ensure energy-optimization and to create an experience of natural phenomena through light.
Different certificate programs, such as BREEAM, are emerging in the construction industry and setting new standards for the environmental performances of buildings. In order for a building to obtain a high sustainability performance, it needs to perform well in a number of areas, including lighting.
As lighting consultants we ensure that the lighting solution is energy-efficient and positively affects its surroundings, as well as the indoor climate.
The contradiction between the recommended average light level in certain areas and the demands listed in different energy programs is a recurring issue. A typical example is the debate on whether or not to maintain 500 lux as an average light level in an office, measured in the working areas. This is a standard recommendation from NS-EN 12464-1:2011, also acknowledged by BREEAM. However, by sustaining this level of light, with a modern and efficient light source, the energy consumption will exceed most building owners’ demands. Thus, an intelligent and self-learning control system is necessary in order to provide the right amount of light, exactly where and when it is needed, and at the same time to create an inspiring lighting atmosphere.
It would be a pity to save energy simply by dimming all lights to a lower level. Instead, we need to, and should allow ourselves to, add short peaks of high levels of light throughout the day in order to create inspiring environments for people to be in.
