AFRY develops Industrial Digitalisation Plan for Dexco’s wood panel industrial operations in Brazil
To advance the digital maturity of wood panel operations in Brazil, Dexco selected AFRY to develop an Industrial Digital Plan (IDP). Based on an Industry 4.0 approach, the plan provides Dexco with a roadmap of digital initiatives that will support strategic decision making in the short-, medium-, and long-term.
The assignment focuses on increasing the digital maturity of production units, covering the areas of project and process design, maintenance, and cyber security, as well as the proposed Industry 4.0 roadmap with digital initiatives.
“The Industrial Digital Plan is a guiding tool for the Industry 4.0 journey of Dexco's Industrial Panel Operations. It provides a realistic view of our digital maturity and points out, in a structured way, the digitalisation actions that need to be implemented so that we can advance in digital transformation”, said Nélida Oliveira, Project and Engineering Manager at Dexco.
In the development of the IDP, AFRY has used pillars such as Smart Automation, Smart Process, Smart Maintenance and Cyber Security in an approach to diagnose the current situation of each Dexco panel factory. Challenges, gaps and digital maturity have been evaluated and management and organization practices recommended. The result of the assignment is a proposal of a five-year roadmap with the digital initiatives to be implemented.
“This plan is based on a framework called 'Industry 4.0 Playbook', which has already been successfully used for several clients worldwide to deliver a clear and structured methodology focused on industrial digital transformation. Dexco can identify which set of digital initiatives is the most important based on the plan. For example, within the Smart Maintenance pillar, the plan defines how to achieve more efficient maintenance operations and guides strategically how and when it should be done”, explains Flávio Maeda, Head for Digitalization Services (Smart Site) and Digital Transformation at AFRY Latin America.
