AFRY advises ECP in the acquisition of a leading UK waste management operator

AFRY congratulates ECP (Energy Capital Partners) on the successful acquisition of Biffa for a total of £1.3 billion equity value. Biffa is a leading integrated waste management business in the UK providing collection, treatment, recycling and technologically-driven energy generation services.

ECP is an energy transition investor, powering a sustainable future with over $27 billion in capital commitments, which include multiple investments in the waste and recycling sectors. The investment business tends to make significant follow-up investments to support their efforts in contributing towards sustainability.

AFRY's team, led by Lucy Nattrass, Helen Moon and David Powlson, delivered the commercial and technical due diligence for the transaction.

We are delighted to hear that ECP has successfully acquired Biffa, which supports their ongoing efforts towards sustainability. This project highlights our comprehensive expertise in the industrial transaction advisory space and strengthens our reputation as a preferred partner for clients looking for technical, commercial, regulatory, operational, ESG/HSE and market-focused solutions,
