Systems Engineering
Expert support in every phase of a system’s lifecycle
Digitalisation and the transition to smart, connected systems entail complex challenges. To turn these challenges into opportunities, a systemised thinking and a structured way of working are required. AFRY's experts use a holistic approach to help you develop the right system, based on your needs and available resources.
What is systems work, and what does a systems engineer do?
The system work area has been developed based on the need to handle large complex challenges, such as the first moon landings, and further developed to be used in aviation and defence. As the pace of development, complexity and competition in today's projects increases, structured system work has established itself in more industries. The need for systems engineers with a systems perspective has never been greater.
The system engineer creates and conveys a broader understanding of how complex mission needs and various technical challenges are analysed and evaluated to minimise the risk of the system solution. Systems engineers are often the hubs of a network of technical experts, and use a common systems language, often together with graphical models, to jointly find the way to the right system.
The life cycle work includes formulating requirements from stakeholder needs which are then used to develop a system architecture and design. The system design considers the entire life cycle from verification and validation, through implementation and integration, as well as operation and maintenance to decommissioning.
What can AFRY offer in systems work?
AFRY works in accordance with the standard Life cycle processes for systems SS-ISO/IEC 15288. Through INCOSE*, we have several certified consultants in the field, to ensure our quality and competence.
AFRY has the holistic perspective required to be able to develop complex systems in a range of areas, for example defence, space, vehicles, medical technology, energy, telecoms and IT. In defence, we have strong references from all defence domains.
AFRY can step in as expert support in all parts of a system's life cycle, and help you develop the business through Systems Engineering. We have experience in implementing SE training courses adapted to the participants' skills, experience and needs. We can also tailor training according to customer needs.
